Public Speaking

Typically these are one hour programs — a 40-minute  talk, leaving time for Q&A/discussion. They are designed for presentations at meetings of organizations or groups whose members are interested in business computing topics. They can be expanded to two hour presentations with live demos and examples shown.

Open Source Software: Learn About Free Software for Personal and Business Computing

The modern free software movement grew out of work that began during the 1970s. Today there is a wealth of free, open source programs in every software category: operating systems, office suites (word processor, spreadsheet and presentation packages), graphics and photo editors, bookkeeping and accounting, media players and music editors, database, email, web browsers, and web publishing. This presentation covers the growth of open source and how to find and download free programs you can use on your home or office computers.

Mailing List Management: The Importance of Mailing List Management

Email is a huge part of our everyday lives. The problem is we get so much of it that an email newsletter may have a hard time rising above the rest of the email noise. When used properly, email is one of the most powerful tools that you can have, enabling you to send a consistent message to customers, clients and contacts in compliance with consumer protection laws. The program covers setting up, building and managing your list, creating effective email newsletters, and adding a subscription form to your website.

Web Design for non-designers: Page Layout, Typography, Visual Design

The impression you make on site visitors will quickly determine whether they hang around long enough to learn more about who you are and what you can do for them. Good design contributes to easy readability and comprehension. Learn how to select contrasting background and foreground colors, choose fonts, adjust spacing, size pictures, and add elements like text, image, audio or video boxes. Learn to create attractive, eye-catching pages that will engage visitors.
